March area news

Hi Guys, and girls of course, well this is the month we've been
looking forward to. Time to awaken those Triumphs from their
winter slumber and get out and about. Yes it's show season
again and let's hope we have another cracking summer. My
old banger is raring to go - after a few setbacks the tunnel
cover and the rest of the interior went back in without too
much bother. I did have a bit of aggro with the overdrive
switch/gearstick wiring playing up. So, I bought a new cable
and a brand new switch. As with a lot of parts now the new
switch looked proper cheap and nasty and sure enough failed
to work. It was billed as being a Lucas part and even came
in a Lucas box but unfortunately not with the Lucas quality.
So, after a good cleaning up the old switch was refitted and
touch wood everything's working. The quality of spares
seems to be going downhill as time goes by with more and
more production being farmed out to the far east.
My refurbishment of the steering wheel on the other hand
came out really well and looks a hundred times better than it
did. I hope by now that Chris's epic refurb is finished although
sitting here writing this at the beginning of March it still looks
a long way off. Not only is the engine, gearbox, diff etc out,
he has now removed everything from the bulkhead to repaint
it. There's also some bodywork painting going on as well.
'VAC' should look simply lovely once it's all back together.
You can be sure that we'll all be casting a critical eye over it
and maybe even a magnet ha ha, sorry mate, couldn't resist.
Back in February we had what is probably going to be our
last monthly meeting before the summer. It was an unbelievably
warm day for February. So warm in fact that we went in our
Herald and with the roof down as well! The weather
definitely encouraged a good turnout of Triumphs - 1 Stag, 1
Herald, 2 Vitesse's and a 2.5L fuel injected Spitfire/GT6. It
was nice to meet the Spit/GT6 owner Arnie, hope you can
come out with us in the future. Also joining us was Greg and
